Did you ever think about what is in your toothpaste? It’s easy to make your own and that way you know what’s in it and can avoid any of those things you can’t pronounce nor identify. This toothpaste is vegan and is free from chemicals. It will taste unusual when you first use it because it does not have any flavourings such as spearmint or peppermint. It also tastes a bit salty because of the bicarb soda.
- 1/2 cup bicarb soda (also called sodium bicarbonate)
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- Mix the two ingredients together in a bowl until they are well combined. The mix will feel gritty. If it’s really cold where you are, you can soften the coconut oil in the microwave for a few second first.
- When the paste is combined, store it in a jar.
If you like the taste of flavoured toothpaste, by all means add 10-20 drops of essential oil in peppermint, tea tree, eucalyptus or any other flavour you like.
To use the toothpaste, scoop a small portion (pea-sized) out with a cosmetic spatula or if you are the only one using it, feel free to dip your toothbrush into the jar.
